Bhubaneswar: The Assistant Collector of Jagatsinghpur District was suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a woman employee working at the Collector’s office.
Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has ordered the suspension of Umesh Chandra Lenka following allegations of misbehaviour with a female employee.
The incident allegedly occurred on April 10 at the District Collector’s office.
The female employee filed a complaint, accusing Lenka of physical and mental harassment. The District Grievance Committee and District Collector investigated the matter and submitted a report, based on which the Minister initiated action.
Minister Pujari has also directed that the departmental investigation be completed within three months. The investigation should be conducted by a woman investigation officer and a woman marshalling officer.
Emphasizing the state government’s commitment to empowering women, Pujari stated that any kind of violence or abuse against women will not be tolerated.
