Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM) under the Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD) has instructed all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state to initiate the application receiving process under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. Unlike the previous phase of PMAY(U), applications for this phase will be accepted exclusively online through a web portal developed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.
According to an official press release, to ensure a smooth application process for eligible beneficiaries, the OUHM has recommended that ULBs establish helpdesks at their offices, organize ward-wise camps, and collaborate with Common Service Centers (CSCs) to assist applicants.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched the process by organising a camp in Gadakana. This holds special significance for PMAY(U) 2.0 as it was visited by the Prime Minister on September 17 this year, during which he interacted with beneficiaries of PMAY(U). On the advice of Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development, and guidance from the Principal Secretary, H&UD, Gadakana has been selected for development as a Model Village.
The inaugural camp, conducted in collaboration with OUHM, invited economically weaker section (EWS) households aspiring to benefit from PMAY(U) 2.0 to submit their applications. Beneficiaries were guided to bring the required documents for immediate processing. The initiative saw an encouraging response, with 28 applications successfully received and uploaded onto the portal.
This proactive approach by the BMC serves as a model for other ULBs, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are provided the necessary support to access housing benefits under PMAY(U).
