Bhubaneswar: Dhadi darshan (queue-based darshan) system will be introduced at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri before the New Year, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Friday.
The Minister said the new arrangement is likely to be rolled out after the holy Kartik month and before the New Year. Preparations for the same are in the final stage.
Under the proposed system, eight ramps will be put in place to allow devotees to have darshan simultaneously. The facility is expected to enable around 10,000 devotees to have darshan every hour. The queue complex will come up between the Garuda Stambha and the Bahara Katha (outer wooden barricade).
According to the Minister, the ramps will function like a collapsible bridge mechanism, which will be opened during darshan hours and closed after the rituals are over. The system has been designed with technical support from IIT Bhubaneswar.
The Minister further informed that the Chhatisha Nijog and the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will soon review the arrangements. The new system will be introduced after their approval.
