Bhubaneswar: The authorities of the Dalmia cement plant in Sundargarh announced compensation for the family of three workers who died when a coal hopper collapsed, trapping them underneath.
As per reports, the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and the body of Dasaratha Patra, one of the victims, has been sent to IGH.
According to Sundargarh sub-collector Dasarathi Sarabu, the family of Dasaratha Patra will receive Rs 25 lakhs, Rs 10 lakhs in insurance, a job at Dalmia Cement, a house in Rajgangpur, and the company will bear the educational expenses of his children and further compensation for the other victims’ families will be announced soon.
It is pertinent to mention that the mishap occurred during the loading of coal into the plant’s boiler unit. The coal hopper collapse had trapped three workers – Susant Rout, Dasarath Patra, and Ranjit Bhol – under the debris. A massive rescue operation was launched at the accident site after the mishap and 64 workers have been rescued.
