Malkangiri: Two persons including a toddler died when the bus they were travelling in from Malkangiri to Visakhapatnam for medical treatment at Anil Neerukonda Hospital collided with a stationary truck on the road.
The deceased have been identified as Subrata Roy and his daughter. Roy was the president of the BJP’s MV 58 booth and a youth leader in the Malkangiri district. The bus was carrying as many as 30 passengers to Visakhapatnam for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses the bus driver was unable to avoid the stationary truck due to poor visibility caused by fog. An investigation into the accident is underway.
The bus had departed from Malkangiri the previous night, and the accident occurred early in the morning. The injured passengers are receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
