Nayagarh: A youth from Manapura village was allegedly beaten to death by a group of youths for passing of nasty comments.
The deceased has been identified as Paramananda Bagha, son of Bali Bahga of Manapur village.
As per reports, Paramananda and his sister Sitabag had gone to watch the Tarini Yatra at Chadheipalli village yesterday evening. Paramananda was thrashed by a group of youths from Chadeiapalli village under Sarankul police limits over the passing of distasteful comments.
With the help of some commuters, Paramananda’s sister took him to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he died while undergoing treatment.
After Paramananda’s death news spread, hundreds of villagers staged a protest outside the Sarankul police station demanding the arrest of the accused. The blockade was lifted after the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Hemant Kumar Rao assured the villagers of taking action.
Based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s sister, police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
