Bhubaneswar: A dense fog cover enveloped several parts of Odisha including the coastal and southern parts on Wednesday.
According to the India Meteorological Department, apart from the state capital, several districts, including Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur witnessed dense fog on Wednesday.
The fog has disrupted daily life in Bhubaneswar, with people struggling to take their wards to school. The dense fog has also brought road traffic to a crawl, with vehicles moving at a snail’s pace on the National Highway and other major highways connecting the twin cities. The fog has reduced visibility to almost zero, making it difficult for drivers to navigate through the roads.
People were seen facing difficulties in travelling and moving around, with many using their headlights to navigate through the dense fog. The fog was so dense that one could hardly see beyond 100 meters, making it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to move around.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised people to take necessary precautions while travelling and to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.
