Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Friday installed a signboard warning that trespassing on land belonging to Lord Jagannath is a punishable offence under the law.
As per reports, this move comes after reports emerged of individuals plotting and illegally selling land belonging to Lord Jagannath near Gundicha temple. With the installation of the signboard, those involved in illegally selling Lord Jagannath’s land in Puri have received a major setback.
Earlier, SJTA filed a complaint with the Kumbharapada police after it came to know that unscrupulous elements trying to encroach and sell land owned by Lord Jagannath near Gundicha temple surfaced.
According to the complaint filed by SJTA, several plots of land, including 827, 824, 821, 823, 825, and 821/1816 located at Talabania, have been targeted by unscrupulous elements attempting to illegally sell them.
Concerned over it, the temple administration made it clear that it would not tolerate any illegal activities related to Lord Jagannath’s properties and would take swift action against those involved.
Taking the matter seriously, SJTA Chief Arabinda Padhee ordered a preliminary investigation into the matter by the Tehsildar and discussed the matter with the Puri Superintendent of Police.
