Bhubaneswar: In light of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of dense fog across several districts of Odisha, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory to the Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of the affected districts.
The SRC has instructed Police and Transport department officials to take necessary measures to regulate vehicle movement on highways during dense fog to prevent road accidents.
According to the IMD, dense fog is expected from Saturday night to Sunday morning in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Khordha, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.
Additionally, dense fog is likely to persist in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts on Sunday night and Monday morning. These areas have also been placed under a ‘Yellow Warning’ by the IMD.
Authorities have been urged to take proactive steps to ensure road safety and minimize disruptions caused by reduced visibility.
