Bhubaneswar: A 17-member delegation from the National Defence College, New Delhi on Monday met Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania as part of their ‘Understanding India’ study tour.
The delegation held discussions on the state’s law and order situation, police administration and coastal security. The delegation also interacted with Khurania on various measures taken by the state government to modernize the police system, tackle Maoist issues, prevent organized crime, and strengthen coastal security.
The Odisha Police Force, established on April 1, 1936, has been playing a vital role in maintaining law and order in the state. The delegation was briefed on the role of Odisha Police in the current scenario, including their efforts in tackling various challenges.
The discussion also highlighted the measures being taken by Odisha Police to combat rising cybercrime and Maoist menace, harassment of women and children, and road accidents. Khurania also guided how the police can effectively address these issues in adverse situations.
The delegation also appreciated the Odisha Police for their outstanding performance in ensuring the safety and security of high-profile events like the DG-IGP Conference-2024, the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, and the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave under the able guidance of DGP YB Khurania.
It is worth noting that the delegation included representatives from countries such as Brazil, Bhutan, South Africa, Nepal and Bangladesh. Apart from this, senior officers of the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Army were present.
The meeting was attended by Special DGP Crime Branch Vinaytosh Mishra, Director of Intelligence RP Koche, Director of BPSPA Sanjeev Panda, Director of State Crime Records Bureau Santosh Vala, Commissioner of Police Suresh Dev Datta Singh, Additional Director General of Security Rajesh Kumar, IG Police, Provisioning Yatindra Koyal and IG Jai Narayan Pankaj and other senior police officers.
