Bhubaneswar: A violent clash broke out between two groups of spectators at Suka Parikhit Ashram under Kudanagari police limits in Kendrapara district over a dance performance by popular Jatra actress Nisha Maharana.
As per reports, Maharana was specially invited to perform at the Ashram as part of the Magha Mela celebrations. However, a clash broke out when Maharana took the stage to perform an item number, which was met with resistance from a section of the audience.
Despite the initial opposition, Maharana began her performance, but the situation quickly escalated into a full-blown clash between the two groups.
Two members of the organizing committee were reportedly injured in the violence and were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The audience, who had gathered to watch the performance, were also caught up in the violence.
Maharana, fearing for her safety, abandoned the performance and fled the scene. Other artists performing at the mela also escaped, fearing for their lives.
The organizing committee has yet to respond to the incident.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of artists performing at public events in the state.
