Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced on Thursday with the address of Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati in the House.
Starting his address with ‘Jai Jagannath’, the Governor expressed his condolence on the deaths of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Odisha MLA Bijay Kumar Mohanty. He said that his and the House’s condolences be conveyed to the bereaved families.
In his address, Kambampati highlighted various developmental schemes of the Odisha government from Srimandir repair work to the execution of Subhadra Yojana and procurement of paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal from farmers.
“The state government is working in tune with the spirit of ‘Sabka Satha, Sabka Vikash’ motto and is moving forward with plans and programmes to achieve Viksit Odisha by 2036 in line with Viksit Bharat envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governor presented a list of the programmes undertaken by the state government for augmenting farming, education, health, and other sectors. He said that empowering women, economically backward sections and youth are the primary aims of his government.
The Governor also congratulated the state government for upholding Odia asmita and successfully organising the DGP/IG conference and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.
