Malkangiri: BSF personnel on Thursday unearthed multiple Maoist dumps from four different sites in the Silakota Reserve Forest near Silakota village in Bapanpalli panchayat under Podia police limits of Malkangiri district.
According to an official press release, acting on intelligence inputs, BSF personnel conducted an intensive search operation in the Silakota Reserve Forest. The operation led to the discovery of four Maoist dumps—three hidden beneath stone cavities and one buried under a twin tree—all located within a 50-meter radius.
A large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, including IEDs, detonators, electric wires, power banks, and SBML guns, was recovered from the dumps.
The seized items include:
- Pressure Cooker IED (5 liters) with an electric detonator (Approx. 5 kg) – 1 unit
- Tiffin IED (5 liters) with an electric detonator (Approx. 5 kg) – 1 unit
- Tiffin IED (3 liters) (Approx. 3 kg) – 1 unit
- Tiffin IED (2 liters) (Approx. 2 kg) – 1 unit
- Electric Detonators – 3 units
- Electric Wire – 11 meters
- Mobile Phone (Brand: LYF, Rusty) – 1 unit
- Power Bank (Brand: Riviera, 10,000 mAh, Rusty) – 1 unit
- SBML Gun with Sling (Dilapidated condition) – 2 units
- SBML Gun without Sling (Dilapidated condition) – 1 unit
Following the recovery, security forces will continue combing and search operations to ensure the safety of both the forces and the local inhabitants.
