Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati for his inspiring address in the State Assembly. Majhi highlighted the government’s commitment to holistic development, emphasizing employment for youth, support for farmers, women’s empowerment, and protection of marginalized communities.

Majhi claimed that his government’s achievements in eight months surpassed the previous government’s 24-year rule. He cited the provision of Rs 800 per quintal as input assistance to farmers, annual financial assistance of up to Rs 10,000 to nearly one crore women under the Subhadra Yojana, and the promotion of Jagannath culture.

“If we compare what Odisha received during the 24 years of the previous government with what it could have achieved, the list would be extensive. This House will discuss and analyse this in the coming days, and I will also share my views on various occasions,” Majhi said in the Assembly.

Regarding law and order, Majhi stated that there has been no increase in crime in the past eight months. He challenged the opposition to name incidents where the government failed to take action.

“Several members have expressed concerns about law and order, and rightly so. As the Home Minister, I would like to state that there has been no increase in crime in the past eight months,” the CM added.

The Chief Minister outlined various initiatives, including the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, the transformation of primary, high, and higher secondary schools into centres of excellence, and the provision of affordable housing in urban areas.

Majhi highlighted the government’s response to natural disasters, including the provision of Rs 292 crore as agricultural input subsidy to affected farmers and the evacuation and sheltering of approximately 8 lakh people during Cyclone “Daana.”

He emphasized the impact of double-engine governance, citing the state’s priority in railways, roads, ports, and airports. Majhi announced plans to connect 30 districts by rail and establish industries in every district.

“Today, the impact of double-engine governance is visible in every sector. Odisha is receiving priority in railways, roads, ports, and airports. Our government aims to connect 30 districts of the state by rail, and this will be achieved very soon. Industries will be established in every district of the State,” Majhi pointed out.

The Chief Minister concluded by thanking the Governor for presenting a clear roadmap for building a prosperous Odisha and urging elected representatives to work tirelessly for the development, prosperity, and welfare of every citizen.
