Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak tomorrow.
“Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak”, read the IMD prediction for tomorrow.
For February 23, the regional weather office predicted thunderstorms with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore. These districts have been issued orange warnings.
For February 23, IMD also issued yellow warnings for thunderstorms with lightning to Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
Meanwhile, the weather office advised people to keep watch on the weather, take safe shelter during thunderstorms and lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Besides, farmers have been advised to use hail nets to protect vegetables and crops from hail.
