Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable display of alertness and quick thinking, a loco pilot took immediate action to halt a train upon spotting a young man who had sustained severe injuries after jumping in front of a moving train.
The incident occurred near Chatarsahi station, between Machhapada and Jugpura stations, on the Rupsa-Bangriposi railway line.
According to sources, the youth identified as Bhuju Murmu (24) from Badasala village under Baisinga police limits, suddenly jumped in front of the train. The loco pilot, displaying exceptional presence of mind, immediately stopped the train and rushed to the youth’s aid. Despite finding Bhuju in a critical condition, bleeding profusely, the pilot ensured his safe rescue and took him to the nearest hospital at Betnoti.
Additionally, the pilot also informed the Station Master of Betnoti Station to keep 108 ambulances ready for prompt medical assistance for the injured youth.
Meanwhile, the locco pilot’s heroic act has been widely praised for saving the young man’s life. Bhuju is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be in critical condition.
