Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, is all set to expand its air connectivity with two new domestic destinations, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar.
As announced by the Chief Minister’s Office, flight services to these destinations will commence on March 30 under the state government’s New Destination Policy.
Daily flights will operate from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar to Hindon Airport at Ghaziabad and Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair.
This development is expected to boost connectivity and facilitate travel between Odisha and these key destinations.
CMO Odisha has made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of air connectivity in the state in its X handle.
“Aviation Bonanza for Bhubaneswar! Sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as new flights to Ghaziabad (Hindon) & Port Blair to take off shortly under the New Destination Policy – boosting tourism, trade & seamless connectivity.”
Additionally, the CMO stated, “With Viksit Odisha in motion, Odisha takes a bold leap toward a more connected future, driving economic growth and enriching cultural exchanges!”
Meanwhile, the Air India Express, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, has unveiled the comprehensive schedule for its two new routes.
The Bhubaneswar-Ghaziabad route will be serviced by Flight No. IX 1621, departing from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad at 9:20 AM and arriving at Bhubaneswar airport at 11:45 AM. The return flight, IX 1624, will leave Bhubaneswar at 12:15 PM and reach Ghaziabad at 2:30 PM.
For the Bhubaneswar-Port Blair route, Flight No. IX 1611 will depart from Bhubaneswar airport at 10:35 AM, arriving at Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair at 12:55 PM. The return flight, IX 1612, is scheduled to take off from Port Blair at 1:25 PM and land in Bhubaneswar at 3:35 PM.
