Heatwave To Grip Odisha From Tomorrow: IMD Issues Yellow, Orange Warnings To Several Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange warnings for several districts in the state, indicating a severe heatwave condition from March 13 to March 16.

According to the latest forecast, a yellow warning has been issued for March 13, indicating that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, and Boudh.

For March 14, IMD prediction reads: “Heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, Boudh, Sundargarh and Angul.”

The warning level will be escalated to orange on March 15, signaling a higher likelihood of heatwave conditions in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir and Boudh. Residents are advised to be prepared to take action to protect themselves from the heat.

In addition to the heat wave warning, a yellow warning has also been issued for warm night conditions in several districts, including Sundargarh, Balangir, Bargarh, and Boudh. That apart for March 15, the regional weather office has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions to Angul, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj.

The weather department has further warned that the heatwave conditions are likely to intensify on March 16, with orange warnings issued for the Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts.

For March 16, the IMD has also issued yellow warnings to several districts, including Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Bargarh. These districts are likely to witness gruelling heat.

IMD also predicted warm nights. Sundargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, and Bargarh districts may experience warm night conditions on March 16, according to the IMD.
