Bhubaneswar: A 7-year-old boy drowned in the Shiv Ganga pond at the Baba Akhandalamani Temple in Aradi in Bhadrak district, on Saturday.
The deceased boy has been identified as Omm Prakash Padhi, the son of Sakrajit Padhi, a servitor of the Baba Akhandalamani Temple.
According to reports, Omm Prakash drowned while playing in the water. After an extensive search, his family members managed to retrieve him from the water and rushed him to the Aradi Community Health Center (CHC).
When his condition worsened, the family quickly transferred him to the Bhadrak District Headquarter Hospital (DHH), where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The tragic incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the village, with locals mourning the untimely loss of the young boy.
