Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 km/h.
These weather conditions are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours across Odisha starting from April 8.
According to the midday weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected to occur at one or two places in the following districts, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput. Dry weather is expected to prevail in the remaining districts of the state.
The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in the afternoon/evening hours in the same districts mentioned above.
On April 9, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur. Dry weather is expected to persist in the other districts.
A yellow warning for thunderstorms with gusty winds is also predicted for the above-mentioned areas.
Similarly, on April 10, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.

Dry weather will persist in other districts.
The IMD has predicted a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next 24 hours, with no significant change expected thereafter across Odisha.
