Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is on a strategic two-day visit to New Delhi, aiming to boost the state’s industrial ecosystem and attract significant investments. The visit, which began on April 7, involves a series of engagements to position Odisha as a leading industrial hub in India.

On the first day, Majhi visited the HCL Tech Campus in Noida, where he interacted with Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies. He explored innovative initiatives at their Mega IT Campus, AI Lab, and IoT Lab, and discussed potential collaborations in IT and ITeS sectors. The Chief Minister emphasized Odisha’s commitment to becoming a hub for technology-driven enterprises and expressed optimism about HCL’s potential expansion in the state.

Majhi also held one-on-one meetings with industry leaders at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, including representatives from Kiri Industries, Himadri Specialty Chemical Ltd., and Chowgule Group. These discussions led to encouraging outcomes, with 14 companies committing to investments worth INR 3,000 crore, potentially generating 21,390 jobs. Additionally, 11 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were formalized, valued at INR 27,595 crore, creating an estimated 27,000 employment opportunities.

The total investment generated from these discussions amounts to INR 30,595 crore, with a potential to create jobs for approximately 48,390 individuals in Odisha. These interactions revealed considerable interest in establishing manufacturing units that would bolster local economic development and create employment opportunities for the youth.

On the second day, Majhi will focus on signing MoUs with key organizations, including Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Indian Strategic Petrochemical Reserves Ltd (ISPRL), and Petronet LNG. These agreements aim to strengthen Odisha’s petrochemical capabilities and promote sustainable industrial practices.

The Government of Odisha anticipates that this visit will yield substantial investment commitments, solidify the state’s position as a prominent industrial hub in Eastern India, and foster a collaborative approach to industrial growth. The Chief Minister’s interactions with industry leaders underscore the government’s dedication to creating a business-friendly environment that supports innovation, enhances infrastructure, and promotes skill development initiatives
