Bhubaneswar: As many as 17 Odisha districts are likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph tomorrow, according to the India Metrological Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD, districts going to be affected by thunderstorms with lightning are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri. These districts have been issued yellow warnings.
“Thunderstorms with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri”, read the IMD prediction for April 10.
For April 11, the regional weather office has issued yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning to Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
Besides for April 11, the weather department has predicted thunderstorms with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
Going by IMD prediction for April 12, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput districts will likely experience thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph.
For April 13, the regional weather office has alerted Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts for thunderstorms with lightning with gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore and dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha”, read the prediction of IMD for April 14.
