Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths apprehended a police Sub-Inspector for demanding and accepting a bribe.
Rajesh Kumar Srichandan, a 2017 batch officer stationed at Sarankul Police Station in Nayagarh district, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.
He allegedly took the bribe to help a complainant’s father in a case registered at Sarankul Police Station, where Srichandan was the investigating officer.
The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from Srichandan. Following his arrest, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to him to investigate disproportionate assets.
A case, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 07/2025, has been registered against Srichandan under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
