Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the death of two students who drowned in Keshari Kunda, Baitarani River in Keonjhar.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and announced a financial compensation of Rs 4 lakh from the State Disaster Management Fund to the next of kin of both deceased students.

The two students, identified as Nitesh Peldar and Pritam Mahamanat, were swept away while bathing in the river with friends. They were pronounced dead at the Champua Community Health Centre.
According to reports, eight students had gone to the river to bathe due to the hot summer. Three of them, including Nitesh and Pritam, were swept away. Despite the efforts of others, the two students couldn’t be saved. They were later rescued and taken to the Champua Community Health Centre, where the doctor declared them dead.
