Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda town is experiencing an extreme heatwave, with temperatures soaring to 42.6°C, while Bhubaneswar recorded 35.4°C by 11:30 AM today.
According to weather scientist Uma Shankar Das, Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature at 42.6°C, followed closely by Hirakud at 40°C, Sambalpur at 39.6°C, Rourkela at 39°C, Kendujhar at 36.8°C, Chandbali at 36.4°C, and Bhubaneswar at 35.4°C.
In light of the ongoing heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has urged people to avoid going outside during peak hours. If it is necessary to step out, people are advised to take precautions, stay hydrated, and wear light, breathable clothing.
