Sundargarh: Police on Tuesday arrested three persons accused of gang-raping a minor girl in the Talasara police station area of Sundargarh district. The suspects, identified as residents of Talasara, were apprehended in the Town police station area following a swift investigation.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the victim was returning home on a motorcycle with relatives after attending a wedding feast. Three assailants, traveling in a SUV, allegedly collided with the motorcycle, abducted the minor, and took her to a nearby forest, where they committed the crime. The perpetrators fled the scene after the assault.
A complaint was lodged at the Talasara police station, prompting the registration of a case and an immediate investigation. The police tracked down the accused, who are now in custody.
Sundargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirmal Mahapatra confirmed that the suspects will undergo medical examinations before being produced in court.
The incident has sparked outrage in the region, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim through a thorough and expedited investigation.
