Bhubaneswar: A high-level ministerial meeting convened at Lok Seva Bhawan on Wednesday to assess the progress of Odisha’s power infrastructure enhancements, with a focus on high-tension power lines.
Chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the meeting saw participation from Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari; Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan; and senior officials.
The state is actively strengthening its power infrastructure by relocating or replacing hazardous power lines and addressing Right of Way (RoW) challenges.
Representatives from the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC), Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), and the state’s four distribution companies (Discoms) presented updates and insights on ongoing efforts.
The meeting also deliberated on measures to control fly ash in districts like Jharsuguda, reviewing departmental guidelines. A follow-up meeting will finalize plans to implement these directives, ensuring effective environmental and operational management.
Key attendees included Principal Secretary of the Energy Department Vishal Kumar Dev, OPTCL CMD Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, and other senior officials, who provided valuable inputs to guide the state’s power sector reforms.
