Bhubaneswar: Two miscreants were injured in a police encounter at Sarubahal village under Bisra police limits in Rourkela police district of Sundargarh district in the wee hours of Friday.
The miscreants were involved in a hotel robbery and were shot at by police when they were fleeing after committing the crime. They are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
According to reports, a group of eight robbers, wearing yellow gamuchhas, stormed into a hotel owned by Gange Oram in the Sarubahal area on Thursday night. The robbers allegedly looted cash and snatched a customer’s mobile phone. When the hotel owner resisted, the robbers fired shots at him and his wife before fleeing the scene.
The police, however, were quick to respond and launched a massive operation to track down the culprits. After a prolonged gunbattle, two suspects were injured and apprehended, while the others managed to escape.
Meanwhile, police are investigating to identify the others involved in the crime.
