Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has asked a Pakistani woman, who has been residing in Bhubaneswar since 2008, to leave the city following the expiry of her long-term visa earlier this year.
As per reports, the woman, married to a local Muslim youth, had her visa valid until February 2024, and she had applied for an extension. The Pakistani woman’s husband works as an air conditioner fitter. She had applied to extend her visa period, which is currently under process.
The directive comes amid tightened regulations for Pakistani nationals in the wake of the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack. The police have been enforcing visa rules strictly, ensuring foreigners adhere to the terms of their stay.
According to official reports, at least 12 Pakistani nationals residing in Odisha on long-term visas (LTVs) have been formally asked to leave the country soon. These individuals, who have been living in the state for extended periods, will receive exit notices as part of the government’s directive.
