Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds triggered by Kalabaisakhi (nor’wester) in almost all districts of Odisha.
An orange warning has been issued for seven districts, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Jajpur, predicting thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain today.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for 23 districts, which are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and rainfall. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious and prepared for potential disruptions.
In contrast, the regional weather office has predicted heatwave to return to the state after two days, with temperatures expected to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours.
This sudden change in weather conditions is likely to bring relief to some areas from the rain, while others may face the challenges of increased heat.
The IMD’s warnings serve as a reminder for residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these weather fluctuations.
It is advisable to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and follow the instructions to minimise risks.
