Heatwave Alert: Odisha Temperatures To Rise By 2-4°C From May 8

Bhubaneswar: Temperatures in Odisha are expected to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius from May 8, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department.

The regional weather office predicted that several cities, including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, and Titlagarh, are likely to reach a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.

By May 9, temperatures in these cities, along with Deogarh, Nayagarh, and Angul, are predicted to reach 41 degrees Celsius.

In the past 24 hours, some parts of Odisha have seen a 4-6 degree Celsius drop in temperature, while others have experienced a 2-4 degree Celsius decrease.

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Sambalpur.

Between May 6 and 7, similar weather is expected across Odisha. Thunderstorms with lightning and stronger winds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
