Bhubaneswar: Bhadrak Rural Police on Tuesday arrested a man on charges of mobile phone snatching and recovered 19 stolen handsets from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Sagal Sunil, a resident of Dahisahi in Jajpur district, was apprehended in the Betada area of Bhadrak following a tip-off. According to police, Sunil had arrived in Betada to sell the stolen devices.
“Based on specific intelligence, a team launched an operation and successfully nabbed the accused. Nineteen stolen mobile phones have been seized from him,” said Bichitrananda Sethi the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bhadrak Rural while addressing the media.
The police have urged individuals who have recently lost their mobile phones to approach Bhadrak Rural Police with valid proof of ownership to reclaim their devices.
