Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under an intense heatwave on Friday, with temperatures soaring across several regions. Sambalpur emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a sweltering 42.2°C at 2:30 PM, while the capital city Bhubaneswar registered 39.6°C.
The temperature data was shared by weather scientist Umashankar Das on his official account on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Das, several other parts of the state also recorded high temperatures, Hirakud at 41.2°C, Jharsuguda at 40.2°C, Rourkela at 39.4°C, Chandbali at 39.0°C, and Baleswar at 38.8°C.
The IMD also advised residents to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, as the extreme weather conditions are expected to persist in the coming days.
