Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha, YB Khurania, on Monday, visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri to review the arrangements for the upcoming Snana Yatra and Rath Yatra.
As per reports, the DGP discussed crowd management, traffic arrangements, and law and order with senior officials as part of measures to ensure the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of the upcoming Rath Yatra festival.
The review meeting was held at the office of Puri Superintendent of Police (SP), attended by senior police officers, including Additional DGPs Sanjay Kumar, Amitabh Thakur, Dayal Gangwar, Praveen Kumar, Anup Sahoo, and Pinaki Mishra, as well as SP Vinit Agrawal.
That apart, DGP Khurania led a comprehensive security review, examining CCTV surveillance, rapid response teams, and coordination with local district authorities, emphasising that security remains the top priority given the massive turnout of devotees expected for Rath Yatra.
During his visit, the DGP also reviewed the preparedness of other security forces deployed at the temple.
Notably, the armoured vehicle ‘Vajra’ has been deployed at the temple entrance as part of the enhanced security protocol. He reviewed the deployment of modern security infrastructure and interacted with senior police officials to guarantee a secure environment for the festival.
