Puri: In a significant initiative to ensure the safety, convenience, and reassurance of women devotees and tourists visiting the Jagannath temple in Puri, the District Police has announced the launch of the Pink Help Desk.
Puri Superintendent of Police Vinit Agrawal announced the launch of the Pink Help Desk at the DPO Conference Hall. Briefing a team of women constables on the desk’s role, Agrawal emphasised its importance in strengthening support for women devotees visiting the Jagannath Temple.
The Pink Help Desks will become operational on Sunday. Staffed by six specially trained female constables, these desks will provide a safe and supportive environment for women devotees and tourists, addressing their grievances, offering immediate assistance, and working to prevent harassment.
Besides, the desk will play a vital role in enhancing the devotees’ experience by collecting feedback, coordinating with local police, and streamlining emergency responses, ultimately ensuring smoother darshan facilities for all pilgrims, said sources.
The Puri Police shared on Twitter about this development, stating, “Women constables were briefed at DPO Conference Hall to strengthen support for women devotees via the newly launched Pink Help Desk at Jagannath Temple. A brief function will be held on 18.05.25 to mark the initiative.”
