Bhubaneswar: The Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania has suspended former Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Ranjan Biswal and Sub-Inspector Abhishek Pradhan of Sambalpur Town Police Station on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 30 lakh from a builder.
The suspension stems from a case involving the sale of valuable land in the Budharja area of Sambalpur. A person had purchased the land from a builder, only to discover that it was sold to him by a fake owner. The buyer lodged a complaint at the police station, but instead of taking action, the IIC allegedly settled the case after accepting the bribe from the builder.
Following an investigation, the DG of Police took action, suspending both Biswal and Pradhan.
