CM Majhi Lauds Commissionerate Police For Exemplary Service, Inaugurates New Quarters

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack is working efficiently to control crime, maintain law and order, and address traffic issues for over 22 lakh people in the twin cities.

Majhi made these remarks while attending the 17th Raising Day celebration of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police as the chief guest.

Speaking at the event held at the 7th Battalion premises in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister highlighted that among all Commissionerate Police forces in the country, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate has established a distinct identity as an efficient, advanced, responsible, and sensitive police force, providing exemplary service to the public.

He noted that the past 11 months have been eventful for the Commissionerate Police, with several state, national, and international events organized in Bhubaneswar. These events were conducted flawlessly from a security perspective, thanks to the tireless efforts of the police force, earning Odisha recognition as a capable and exemplary organizer.

The Chief Minister further stated that Odisha holds a unique position on India’s map, playing a leading role in the vision of a developed India. The police have a crucial role in this endeavor.

He referenced the first-ever DGP-IGP Conference held in Bhubaneswar, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized improvements in counter-terrorism, coastal security, cybercrime, and urban policing. This, he said, presents a significant challenge for the Commissionerate Police, which they will meet successfully with the full support of the state government.

CM Majhi emphasized that the government is a people’s government, and the police should consider themselves friends of the public. They must address public grievances and challenges sensitively, ensuring the safety of lives and property.

He urged the police to deliver justice equitably to all sections and classes of society. To combat cybercrime, the government has provided technical gadgets and equipment, and cyber police stations have been established in all districts. These will be further strengthened in the coming days.

The Chief Minister also stressed maintaining peace and creating a conducive environment in slum areas.

He added that the government is taking steps to enhance the police force’s human resources and infrastructure. Aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Smart Policing,’ the government is committed to building a smart police force.

During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated 84 F-type quarters at the Bhubaneswar Reserve Police Line and 28 D-type quarters in the Badagada police station area.

He also felicitated outstanding police officers and personnel for their dedication and efficiency. Cultural programs were organized as part of the celebration.

Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania remarked that over the 17-year journey of the Commissionerate Police, it has successfully tackled numerous challenges, establishing itself as one of the best Commissionerates in the country. The police have earned praise for crime resolution, investigation, and ensuring justice for offenders.

He highlighted that under the Chief Minister’s visionary leadership, the police are fulfilling the call to provide quality service to the public, bringing them closer to the community. A recent incident where a kidnapped child was rescued and reunited with a blind mother further enhanced the police’s public image.

He called on every police personnel to work selflessly for a safe society and an inspiring police system.

Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh delivered the welcome address.

Ekamra Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Sethi, Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Souvik Biswal, Chief Minister’s advisor Prakash Mishra, senior police officers, and retired police officials attended the event in large numbers.
