Thunderstorm Alert: 23 Odisha Districts On High Alert For Next Three Hours

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for 23 districts in Odisha, warning of moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain likely within the next three hours.

As per the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 2 pm, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Rayagada districts are expected to experience moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain.

The affected areas may witness minor damage to loose structures, banana trees, and standing crops. Residents are advised to be prepared for worsening conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

In addition, a yellow alert has been issued for districts including Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, and Nabarangapur, warning of light to moderate thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning in the next three hours.

Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from lightning strikes and strong winds.
