Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported a total of seven COVID-19 cases over the past two days, with five cases detected on Friday and two more confirmed on Saturday, according to Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department Aswathy S.

Addressing the media, Aswathy S. assured that the situation remains under control and there is no need for public panic.

“Several of the earlier detected cases have already recovered. The current number of active cases is minimal and well-managed,” she said.

The health department is actively monitoring the situation in coordination with the Union Health Ministry.

“We are following all instructions issued by the ministry and have taken adequate measures to ensure preparedness. The state is fully equipped to handle the current caseload,” she added.

She further noted that the variant currently in circulation is mild in nature.

“According to reports from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Union Health Ministry, the present variant has low virulence. Therefore, the public need not worry,” she emphasized.

The official reiterated that Odisha’s COVID-19 numbers are within manageable limits and the government remains vigilant. Nationwide, the situation is also being closely watched by central authorities.
