Massive Explosives-Laden Truck

Sundargarh: A truck carrying 15 tons of explosives and three lakh meters of detonator wire arrived today at a warehouse near Khadiapada village in Sundargarh.

The warehouse has been sealed since May 28, following the looting of explosives by Maoist rebels.

According to sources, the vehicle, which originated from Hyderabad, was loaded with 25 boxes and 600 packets of explosives, along with 198 packets of detonator wire. Upon arrival around noon, the truck driver, Jai Suresh, found the premises sealed and unattended.

“I came from Hyderabad with a consignment of explosives and wires. I have all the relevant bills and documents, which are properly stamped. But there was no one present when I reached,” the driver told reporters.

Police from the Baragaon police station reached the site after being alerted and verified the consignment papers. Police are now investigating how such a large shipment was dispatched to a facility that remains under official seal.

The warehouse had been sealed in the aftermath of a major Maoist heist on May 27, during which five tons of explosives were stolen. An investigation into that incident is ongoing.

In a related incident, police intercepted a mini-truck carrying a substantial quantity of explosives and detonators in the Balughat area of Rourkela two days ago. Srabana Agarwal, the owner of the sealed warehouse, was detained for questioning and was arrested earlier today.
