Balasore: A disastrous train accident was averted near Basta Railway Station in Odisha when the Tejas Rajdhani Express, en route to New Delhi from Bhubaneswar, encountered a fire due to a fallen coconut tree branch on the train engine.
The branch, dislodged by strong winds accompanying heavy rainfall, came into contact with high-voltage electric wires on the train line, sparking a fire that fell on the engine of the 22811 Tejas Rajdhani Express.
Thanks to the quick thinking and presence of mind of the loco pilot, the train was brought to a halt near the South Cabin of Basta Railway Station, preventing a major mishap. The train was stationary for about one and a half hours until the burnt coconut branches were cleared.
Fortunately, all passengers on board are reportedly safe.
