Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Thursday announced a hike in the cessation benefits for its ad-hoc employees, marking a significant policy decision aimed at recognising the contributions of temporary staff serving across various state departments.

According to an official press release, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved a proposal to enhance the cessation benefits from the existing Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh. The revised benefits will be provided as a one-time payout to ad-hoc employees upon the cessation of their services.

As per the new guidelines, ad-hoc employees who have rendered five years or more of service will now be eligible for a minimum gratuity of Rs 2.5 lakh. Additionally, the gratuity amount will be revised upwards by 10 per cent every two years.

Importantly, departments will no longer require prior approval from the Finance Department for implementing the biennial revision of the gratuity amount, thereby expediting the disbursal process.
