Bhubaneswar: A former Junior Engineer (JE) in the Minor Irrigation department at Digapahandi in Ganjam district has been convicted and sentenced to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 50,000 for corruption.
The conviction stems from a case registered under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(e)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing disproportionate assets (DA). The Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur, delivered the verdict, holding Pramod Chandra Senapati accountable for his corrupt actions.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance will initiate proceedings to stop the pension of Senapati, who had retired from service. This action underscores the Vigilance department’s commitment to holding public servants accountable for corruption, even after retirement.
