Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi has expressed deep sorrow over the stampede incident in Puri, which resulted in the loss of three lives. In a statement, Gandhi described the tragedy as a “serious warning” and emphasised the need for a thorough review of security arrangements and crowd management at large gatherings.
Gandhi stressed that protecting lives is of utmost importance and any lapses in this responsibility are unacceptable. “This tragedy is a serious warning – for such large events, security arrangements and crowd management preparations must be taken seriously and thoroughly reviewed. Protecting lives is paramount, and no lapses in this responsibility are acceptable,” he said.
Terming the incident “extremely tragic,” Gandhi extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured devotees. He also appealed to the Odisha government to expedite relief efforts and urged Congress workers to provide all possible assistance in this regard.
