Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s Planning and Convergence Department issued a public notice on Thursday, urging the public to submit relevant details, including video recordings or other materials, to aid in the investigation of a tragic stampede incident that occurred near Gundicha Temple in Puri on Sunday, claiming three lives.

The Odisha government has called on the public to help with the investigation into the stampede incident at Saradhabali near Gundicha Temple in Puri, which injured 50 others during the ‘Pahuda’ ritual, apart from killing three persons.

Going by the notification, the public has been urged to share information, video footage, or any other material by emailing puritragedy.enquiry@odisha.gov.in by July 20. To facilitate public participation, the government has made two landline numbers available – 0674-2536882 and 0674-2391970 for direct communication with the inquiry team.

According to the notification issued by the Planning and Convergence Department, those wishing to share information in person can meet Development Commissioner Anu Garg at the State Guest House in Bhubaneswar after 3 pm on July 9 or at the Special Circuit House in Puri after 3 pm on July 10.

Notably, Development Commissioner Anu Garg has been appointed to lead an administrative inquiry into the Puri stampede incident. She has visited the site, met with stakeholders, including police officials, and is expected to submit her report to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi within 30 days.
