Bhubaneswar: Thousands of devotees are heading to Puri today to witness the grand Suna Besha of Lord Jagannath and His siblings.
The Odisha Police have reported heavy vehicular congestion on the Bhubaneswar–Puri route, particularly near Batgaon, where the waiting time currently stands at around two hours.
In an advisory issued on Sunday, police have urged all devotees traveling to Puri to plan their journeys accordingly, as traffic volume has surged significantly since early morning.
The Suna Besha, an annual event during which Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are adorned in golden attire, is being held today on their respective chariots at the Lions’ Gate (Singhadwara) of Srimandir in Puri.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced that devotees can witness the divine ritual from 6:30 pm to 11 pm.
The annual event draws lakhs of devotees and authorities have deployed additional police personnel for crowd and traffic management.
