Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable medical achievement, a young woman from Naugaan area of Jagatsingpur district has given birth to a healthy baby girl weighing 5.5 kg without undergoing a cesarean section. The delivery took place at the Jagatsingpur District Headquarters Hospital.
The 18-year-old Saraswati Nayak of Naugaan, who weighs around 114 kg, was initially taken to the Naugaan Community Health Centre with labour pains and was later referred to the district headquarters hospital. A team of doctors, led by Dr. Saroj Jena, a Gynaecologist, successfully managed the complicated delivery.
The birth of the 5.5 kg baby girl is considered a rare occurrence, especially without a C-section. Both the mother and the newborn are said to be safe and healthy. Dr. Jena attributed the success to the hard work of the doctors and supporting staff.
“It is a record achievement of the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital. With the hard work of the doctors’ team and other supporting staff, the rare delivery was achieved,” said Dr. Jena.
The proud father, Dipak Dalai, expressed relief and gratitude towards the medical team, saying, “We were scared when the doctors told us the situation was critical, but they successfully handled the delivery.” He added, “Now, both my baby and wife are healthy.” This remarkable delivery has set a record for the Jagatsingpur District Headquarters Hospital.
