Bhubaneswar: Odisha Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik returned to Bhubaneswar on Saturday after undergoing a successful medical procedure in Mumbai.
Patnaik, who had been in Mumbai for treatment of cervical arthritis, arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) aboard a special flight. He was received by senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders and greeted by thousands of supporters who had gathered along the route to welcome him.
The veteran leader underwent the procedure at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on June 22. He had flown to Mumbai on June 20 for the scheduled treatment.
The surgery, which lasted nearly two hours, was conducted under the supervision of renowned cardiologist Dr. Ramakant Panda, who also serves as Patnaik’s personal physician. A team of expert surgeons, with assistance from doctors of the Asian Heart Institute, carried out the operation.
Patnaik’s return has generated a wave of enthusiasm among BJD workers and supporters across the state.
