Bhubaneswar: A police sub-inspector’s act of humanity has brought widespread appreciation after he provided relief to a critically ill woman amidst the chaos of Odisha bandh observed by Opposition parties.
Sub-inspector Smriti Ranjan Mohanty, stationed at Pahal police station, arranged an ambulance to rush the woman to SCB Medical College in Cuttack after she became stuck in traffic due to a blockade on the national highway.

The woman, who was travelling from Khariar to Cuttack for medical treatment, was in critical condition. Mohanty’s prompt action ensured her safe transportation to the hospital. His selfless act has earned praise, highlighting the compassionate side of law enforcement.
Notably, eight political parties led by Congress today observed a 12-bandh in the State in protest over the death of FM College student, who set herself on fire following alleged sexual harassment by a professor.
