Another Accused Arrested In Jagatsinghpur Gang Rape Case

Jagatsinghpur: Police investigating the brutal gang rape of an 18-year-old female student in Jagatsinghpur have arrested the second accused, Kartik Majhi (21), from Biridi today. Majhi is scheduled to be produced in court tomorrow.

According to reports, the victim and a friend were walking through a field near Chandagarh area around 8 PM on Monday, taking a shortcut to a relative’s birthday celebration. Two youths blocked their path. While the friend managed to escape, the assailants abducted the victim and allegedly raped her.

The victim, admitted in critical condition at the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital, is a resident of a village located approximately 5 kilometers from the district headquarters.

Earlier today, police had arrested identified as Chiku alias Pritiranjan Behera (23). Behera, a resident of Kodala Palasa village under Jagatsinghpur police station, was forwarded to court today. Kartik Majhi, also a resident of Kodala Palasa was apprehended subsequently.
